Description
Stickybear Town Builder is an educational game that was released in 1992 in the United States. The game is available on the DOS, Commodore 64, and apple II platforms.
The game was published by Optimum Resource, Inc. and is one of the earliest games in the Stickybear series.
To play the game, the player needs to plan and design an entire town by erecting residential and commercial buildings. Once the structures are placed, the game automatically
creates a road connecting them to the town. Once the road is in place, the player gets to drive a car and reach a certain point on a map.
There is also the task of finding a hidden key by following the instructions and coordinates on the map. Navigational instructions are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Points are awarded for reaching the correct destination. The player also needs to carefully carve out a route based on the shortest distance without depleting the fuel in the car.
This simple gameplay attempts at improving pattern recognition skills and direction sense in young children. It also improves their route optimization and resource management.
Stickybear Town Builder is more like an interactive game of legos with additional features. The graphics are good, and the choice of bright colors makes the game visually appealing.
The game provides a top-down perspective. The game clearly lacks the entertainment value of the other stickybear games, but is a decent enough educational simulation bound to keep
children occupied for a reasonable amount of time. It remains a popular choice among the Stickybear titles.
