Description
THE BATTLE ON THE BLACK SEA follows a fictional battle between Russia and Ukraine after
the fall of the soviet union.
It’s a turn-based board game that employs naval warfighting strategy. Every player gets
a turn to make a move and whoever is the last ship standing wins.
Players fight as the Russian navy in the shoes of the fleet commander.
Each side has a designated space in the sea and can use the arrow keys to place their
various torpedo boats in strategic locations. At any point in the game, you can move your
ship to protect your fleet from attacks and you can rotate the torpedo head to attack from
different directions.
The game’s primary objective is to conquer Ukrainian ports through battle. The gameplay
unfolds in a turn-based mode, therefore strategy and planning are very important. Know where
to place your ships and predict your opponent's move. Without that, you could lose your
entire fleet in seconds. This gameplay is pretty straightforward with very few customization
options. The graphics display a wide blue screen that depicts the sea, images of your fleet on
one side, and images of your opponents on the other side. Just like the rotation of torpedo
heads, Players can only move in four directions, there are no diagonal movements.
BATTLE ON THE BLACK SEA is inspired by the idea of card-based board games and implements them
with a short story format. It was released in Russia in 1992 and it’s available on Dos.
