Description
The Second World is a strategy game with a Sci-Fi theme that was released in 1990. The game was developed by Mecom Software and published
by Magic Bytes. It was released on DOS, Amiga, Commodore 64, and Atari ST platforms.
The Second World is based on a fictional world, divided into 25 countries. Out of the 25, 4 of these countries are out to achieve world
domination by establishing control over a maximum number of countries. The winner needs to get at least 15 countries under their command
to achieve world domination. This could be either achieved by buying them off or raging war to conquer them. Conquering a country also
involves driving out all rivals in terms of business prospects. There is also a non-hostile option available to conquer a country, which
is by making excellent economic policies or other profitable schemes to earn victory points.
To play the game, the player must make economic policies for maximizing profits and ensuring the betterment of the nation. Each round is
considered to last a period of three months during which the player needs to take important economic or military decisions.
These could include stock dealing, import, and export of goods, tax-related decisions, construction activities, or even war or assassination
attempts against a rival country. The performance of a country is judged on Productivity, prosperity, and death rate. The player must work
towards achieving a high score on all three indexes to win the game.
