Description
THE SHADOWS OF MORDOR is a fantasy game, is a fantasy and adventure game based on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The game is an updated version
of Lord of the Rings: Game One. It was released in 1988 on the DOS, Amiga, and Commodore 64 platforms.
The Shadows of Mordor is based on the second book of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Two Towers. The game is completely text-based.
The plot of the game is very similar to the book, revolving around Frodo and the hobbits on their way to Mordor, to destroy the ring. The focus
is on Frodo and Sam, and the player can assume the character of either of the two. The game recreates the middle-earth atmosphere quite
accurately and gives the player almost a real experience of going on a quest. At the start of the game, the player is given the option to play
as Frodo or Sam. On choosing either of the two characters, the game begins by giving details about their location and the weapons or other
useful objects in their possession. The direction in which the player can move is also mentioned on the screen. Other characters like Smeagol
also play important roles throughout the journey. The player can move, run, climb or perform any other functions by pressing the Keys on the
keyboard. The objective is to get to Mordor safely and destroy the ring, crossing all obstacles along the way. A sequel to The Shadows of Mordor
was released in 1989 as Crack of Doom.
