Description
THE SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS' STAR WARS CHESS, also known as Star Wars Chess, is a strategy game, released in 1993. It has a Sci-Fi and Futuristic
theme, inspired by the Star Wars franchise. The game was developed and published by Software Toolworks, Inc, and was released on DOS, Sega CD,
and Windows platforms.
The game has been designed to resemble a game of Chess, with each piece replaced by a character from Star wars. All the important characters
from Star Wars are represented in this game, like Luke Skywalker as King, Princess Leia as Queen, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Yoda, and
R2-D2 in other important roles. The characters almost come alive on a blue chessboard. When chess pieces are captured, a small battle animation
appears on the screen. During the capture sequence, pieces surrounding the animation might be hidden from view, with a full focus on the warring
characters. There is also an option to switch to the 2D mode, where the star wars characters get switched with actual chess pieces.
The background and feel of the game are very similar to the Star Wars movies and the game is bound to appeal to the fans of the franchise.
It promises to make players relive the battles between the Rebel Alliance and the evil empire through astounding artwork and a powerful chess
program. The game offers up to 72 unique capture moves, accompanied by authentic Star Wars music and sound effects. The game can be played with
a mouse or Keyboard. There are also different playing modes available, from Beginner to expert.
