Vor Terra
Developed by:
Softdisk, Inc.
Softdisk was a publisher of "disk magazines" -- magazines distributed on disk, with programs, interviews, advertisements, etc. They were very popular from the 1980s until the mid 1990s, when the World Wide Web explosion changed the computer into a true consumer device. The programs were sometimes helpful utilities, but were mostly games you could play. Softdisk acted as a game publisher, and paid authors for their work.

Description
King Meldiron, Ruler of Vor Terra has died. His unexpected death from a rare
illness has left the people of the fair land in utter horror and confusion.
Soon after his death, while the people looked for a new leader, aweful
events have been occuring in the cities, villages, and wildernesses of the
large country. Creatures and Monsters of unknown strength and powerful
sorcery have crept from the outer reaches and now feast and terrorize
the loyal and kind people of the realm. Plague and Disease sweep the
land like a brush fire. Thieves plague the cities. Death speaks to
everyone. But amidst the chaos, there is a prophecy.
The prophecy, written in the obscure Book of Heralds, speaks of a time when
there will be much chaos, a time when all will seem dark. And just as
the cities get overrun with fiendish unspeakable evils, one of royal
blood will find buried a Rainbow Egg. He will take in to the sacred
altar room in the central aclove of the great castle. Then that man
will rule benevolently the people and will be saved.
As a Knight of the Table of the King, you as well as the other lords of the
land, seek the Rainbow Egg. Whoever gets it, the people will say will
rule, and you will be king. Nobody knows where the egg is, somesay it has
been buried, other say it lies in a chest, some say its hidden in a grave,
others say it doesn't exist at all.
You must find the Egg, and with a new leader you will bring the country
to its former glory.
