Description
West Phaser is an action video game released in 1989. The game was developed by Loriciel SA and is available on the DOS, Amiga, Atari ST, and Amstrad CPC platforms.
Westphaser is also known as Steve McQueen: Westphaser.
West phaser is basically a shooting game with a cowboy theme. It is set in the wild west where outlaw gunslingers like Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and other notorious
bandits are imposing a reign of terror. The player assumes the role of a lawman who is tasked with showing these baddies their place and restoring peace in the region.
The game can be played by up to 6 players, who can choose to play as famous characters of the old west like Doc Holliday, Will Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and many
others. The player who can eliminate the maximum number of baddies will be awarded the Sheriff’s badge, and also earn the bounty on the head of these criminals.
The chase for the outlaws will take the player to several locations like Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California. On their way, the players will
pass through several dusty streets and salons. The game does a great job of recreating the landscape and social setting of the Wild West in the 19th century.
The player needs to eliminate the target of the level while being careful as to not kill any civilian, in which case they will be slapped with a penalty.
Points are awarded for successfully eliminating each outlaw. Apart from the targets, the player will encounter several other enemies such as bandits, Indians, and
Mexicans. The player is armed with a shotgun, however, there is also some hand-to-hand combat involved.
