Description
Windsurf Willy is a sports adventure game, based on windsurfing. The game was developed and published by Silmarils in 1989 and is available on the DOS, Amiga,
Atari ST, and Amstrad CPC platforms.
Windsurf Willy can be played by 1 or 2 players, who get a chance to showcase their surfing skills to 4 judges, in a Surfing tournament. This tournament occurs
in 15 different locations like Simba beach in Senegal, Ayentailem in Istanbul, Bud coast in Adelaide, Ty-Pan in Hong Kong, and many other famous beaches around
the world. The game offers 3 different skill levels- Demo, Scores, and Play. The player also gets to select their surfing board at the start of the game.
The task is to get the board out into the water and ride the waves, just like the actual sport of Windsurfing. The game is 3D and does a decent job of recreating
the look and feel of the ocean, although the Amiga version is much better in comparison to the DOS version in terms of graphics and music.
The players are judged on their speed, their precision in technique, and their ability to ride high waves without being knocked off their board. Apart from powerful
waves, players also need to look out for hindrances such as barrels and other discarded objects in the water. Each location also has different weather conditions;
with some locations being windier than others. The competition is held at different times of the day, some in the evening while others in the early morning and even
at night time. The player who earns the highest score wins the game.
